Hiking Hanging Lake, Glenwood Springs, CO USA
Hanging Lake is a great family hike, and promises to have beautiful scenery throughout the year. Conveniently located just east of Glenwood Springs, it makes for a quick hike for lunch or a good start or finish to the day. It’s quick elevation climb (1200 ft in 1.2 miles) will provide a couple sweat droplets to appear on the brow, but definitely won’t hurt. The trailhead is set-up nicely with full modern conveniences but has no food or snacks. Remember, always bring more water and warm clothing than you think you will need.
Trail Head at Hanging Lake
Small falls are all over this forest. As we trek up the trail, we will encounter many waterfalls. One finds themselves in the middle of a canyon that was formed by water erosion thousands of years ago. This water flows directly into the Colorado River which you can see from the trailhead.
Water
falls are abundant in this area.
The
top is a nice reward.
